I turned off the highway lost in my thoughts about Bible study that evening. As I continued on, I left the comfort of a well-lit four lane road to a two lane road. Darkness emerged and surrounded me. I glanced in my rear view mirror to catch any headlights following me and instead saw a gift from God. The words “you’re my favorite” seemed to echo in the car.

I could not get enough of the moving snapshot. Hope glimmered in the darkness. I drove a little faster desiring to reach my destination sooner. All the while “you’re my favorite” filled the dark corners of the car.

Looking back one last time, I pulled into the church parking lot and jumped out of my car with my phone in hand. I centered the view in my camera and snapped. A smile turned the corners of my lips into a lopsided grin. All was well!

I forget too often that God is always on my side. He is my Shepherd and will not rest until I am cared for again and again. God shows me how He delights in me and cherishes everything about me. He whispers in my darkest moments as well as those of tremendous joy and says, “you’re my favorite”.

[Tweet “God whispers “you’re my favorite” as a sign of His deep love. Are you listening?”]

We work hard and lose the truth of who we are in the process, but God sends us snapshots in our rear view mirrors that tell us differently. Outside sources convince us that “favorites” are reserved for ice cream, puppies and movies. God takes the time to show us we are beautiful in the unexpected whispers of His truth. Just as Winnie the Pooh likes nothing more than to spend the day with us, it is God’s greatest desire too.

Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day. Winnie the Pooh

Stand encouraged that God loves and cherishes you, craves spending time with you and rejoices in you. But when your days hit below the belt and knock you down from weariness or frustration, remember God’s got you. So…

If you are feeling less than today, God reminds you:

For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

When you feel overwhelmed and soul weary, He says:

God, my shepherd!
I don’t need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows,
you find me quiet pools to drink from.
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction. Psalm 23:1-3 MSG

If you crave belonging and forget who you are, God tells you:

But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1

Today I pray you know you are dearly loved, known intimately by God and you are a delight.

Love you all,
