What if hearing the word “brave” sends your stomach into a tizzy and your palms into clammy mode? Or what if being brave means stepping out of your comfort zone? Or is brave a step into the unknown that you are asked by God to explore? Are you brave when staying right where you are is exactly where God wants you to be? All these questions and more will take us on a journey to brave faith.
Coming soon!!! 31 Days: My Journey to Brave Faith beginning this Thursday, October 1. It is the chance to learn what brave looks like for you for the next 31 days. Please join me for 31 days of God’s word, inspiration, quotes and words from some friends as well as me. God calls us each to be bold and brave for Him. It looks different for each of us and the path to getting there is many times bumpy and messy, but God calls us to be brave for Him.
Let’s begin today by looking to God’s Word for truth and encouragement in this journey to brave faith. The story of Joshua is one of faith, courage and obedience. God has been preparing the Israelites for this day. The day where they enter Canaan after wandering in the desert for forty years. The Israelites had the opportunity to enter the promised land forty years earlier, but due to their lack of faith, God did not allow them to enter the land. Instead, He made them wander in the desert. In Joshua, God is preparing both Joshua and the Israelites by teaching them them the importance of courageous and consistent faith. The day has come for them. Will this same day come for us?
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Our journey to brave requires courageous and consistent faith. It is knowing that God is always with us. He is there in the unknown, in the staying right where we are, and in any bold steps He calls us to take. He is in every step we take and this journey leads us to brave faith.

In grace and peace,
Mary
Disclaimer: I believe this journey is always evolving so don’t be surprised at the end of 31 days if we have not made it to brave. We all need to extend grace that our journey with God is lifelong.

Of course, I totally love your topic! 🙂 And your graphic. And just the fact that we are both writing on the same topic. Curious where we both end up!
Yay! Let’s do this, Jen! I can’t wait to see where our journeys take us too. May we brave together!
My husband and I are bumping up against a journey that is taking every ounce of faith and courage we can muster, Mary. Your prayers for us would be appreciated. I am inspired and encouraged more seeing the faith and courage you are demonstrating and writing about here, my friend. Keep up the good work and I hope your 31 days of writing brings blessings by the boatload!
You have been such a faithful prayer warrior for me. I would be honored to include you and your husband in my prayers. Thank you for your encouragement as I write for 31 days. I love seeing how God is working in me. Sometimes it takes others to see it in us first before we recognize it in ourselves. Hope you’ll stop in to check and see how my series is going. Love you girl!
I am also talking about that same verse over at my site. Im your neighbor at #tellhisstory. I focus on discouragement, although fear has also held me captive many times. Joshua 1:9 is one of my very favorite verses, one that we need to constantly remember and remind ourselves to walk in courage and freedom! What a great focus for 31 days.
There is such power in the words of Joshua and when you read a little more about the story of Joshua it all makes sense. The Israelites are stubborn about many things and it left them to wander in the desert for 40 years. Joshua is sent to lead them by remembering to be consistent and courageous in their faith. I’m so glad that you stopped by today. I am praying that you are able to release your fear and find brave faith.
The word brave definitely makes me all clammy :). I’m so looking forward to your series, my friend. Committing to that alone makes you very brave in my eyes. You will serve many throughout October, and I’m blessed to be in that group.
I still too often forget God is always with me. Thank you for this simple, yet incredibly important reminder!
Honestly the word brave makes me squirm and feel a little queasy but I am learning that so much of what we already do is brave. When we step our of our comfort zones, we are brave and I find you to be very brave Candace! Just think of all you are doing right now in your own life. You are brave! I am glad you will be joining me on this journey. Let’s walk to brave faith together!
Looking forward to your series, Mary!
Thank you Constance! You stopping here means so much! Hope your week has been blessed.
Sounds like a great study, and I love the city picture! Looking forward to reading more! Thanks for sharing with us at #RaRaLinkup today!
Thank you Angela! The city picture is from downtown Cincinnati and I love it too. Praying that brave faith finds me throughout my 31 day journey and looking forward to you and others stopping by along the way.
“He is in every step we take and this journey leads us to brave faith.” – I love this. It’s easier to talk yourself out of something because you feel you can’t do it but when we look at it from this perspective we can have a godly confidence in ourselves.
Thank you for being here today. I am praying we all feel a godly confidence as we lean on God to lead us to brave faith. I know that without Him, I cant be successful at anything. Thank you for blessing me with encouragement today.
I’m looking forward to your series, Mary! Great subject…. something I could use more of! Blessings friend!
I know we can all use brave faith in our lives and as the world swirls around us with uncertainty, the time is now. I am so glad you stopped by. You ended up leaving two comments so I just replied to the one. Tomorrow we start this 31 day journey!!! Hugs to you!
What a great series, Mary. “Brave” is my word for 2015 and back in January it had me shaking in my boots. But just like you said – consistently believing God for the courage and strength, learning to lean on Him and that I don’t have to be brave alone has made the biggest difference in how I see that BIG word. I’m looking forward to gleaning from you and learning more about being brave with Him.
I love that “brave” is your one word. I sometimes think that it should be mine, but inspite of that God has so much to teach me when it comes to brave. I do not have all the answers. I have God’s word and truths and what I am learning that I will be sharing with all. The journey to brave faith will be a time for understanding and learning what this means in my own life and I’m hoping will help others along the way. I always love when you stop by Tiffany!
The horizon for brave keeps getting moved out doesn’t it? As we trust, God moves us forward into braver and braver territory.
That is the truth, Michele. I love how you stated the horizon keeps getting moved out. One brave step will lead to many others of that I am sure. What I am exploring is what that is going to look like for me. So glad you stopped by to share your thoughts.
The journey to brave is just that, a journey for sure! Excited that you’re writing about this in October. 🙂
I feel like I’m strapping on my boots and holding onto my hat as I get ready for this wild ride into not only writing for 31 days but all God is going to teach me through this adventure. I’m praying that God is present throughout this process and that my words are His words and somehow become words that will help others. So good to see you here. Praying life isn’t too busy or crazy! Love you!
Brave. Yes, you are.
Faith-filled. Yes, you are, Mary.
I’m looking forward to learning with you. It hits me often how far I have to go …
By His grace.
I always believe others see strengths in us that we don’t see in ourselves. Bravery is one of those things that I am learning and trying on for size. I would love to hear your thoughts along the way. Hugs sweet friend!
Love this, Mary! Especially the last line. Thank you for sharing your struggle with bravery and some solid, straight from the Word encouragement! #RaRaLinkup
Thank you Bethany! I am amazed at how God places certain words on our hearts because He knows that we need to hear them and learn from them ourselves. I appreciate whenever you stop by and your encouragement is a bright spot in my day.
Lovely and brave of you to commit to this challenge of writing for the next 31 days. May God fill you with His Strength and Wisdom as you write friend.
Will be checking in every other day to catch up on your latest article.
More Grace to You.
Thank you for being willing to go on this journey with me. I am praying for God’s presence throughout this journey as well. Hoping your week is going well. Hugs!
