I am not…
the woman I see in the mirror each morning-
tired, new laugh lines feathering around my eyes, lacking motivation for the day!
I am a beautiful child of God!
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!
2 Corinthians 5:17
I am not the woman who teaches third graders and somedays fails miserably-
students are not focused, my teaching falls flat, I question why every word out of my mouth seems to be
absorbed by the walls rather than the students who it was intended for.
I was chosen by God to follow and passionately pursue the path of a teacher!
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
I am not the mother of two grown sons who somedays is not present when all they want is my presence-
Distracted by my “to do” list, consumed by lesson plans and other teacher stuff, thinking ahead to tomorrow instead of focusing on today.
I am precious in Jesus’ eyes and He made me to be life-giving and nurturing to others! Turning to Jesus allows me
to change my focus and become who He has always had in mind!
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24
I am becoming more!
I am God’s chosen child – a child who is thought of, listened to, loved and forgiven 24/7 by the God who knows me intimately. When life breaks me down, God lifts me up and gently reminds me how He chose me to be a teacher, a mom and who I see every morning in the mirror. I am loved!
I pray that we all feel loved even on the days we are broken and failing miserably. Becoming more in Christ is an easy goal if we just turn to Him and say “yes”.
“God wants to give us a new starting place. He sees beyond who we are to who we are becoming.” Renee Swope, A Confident Heart
Blessings to you all today!

Thank you for your reminders today! :0)
Thank you for stopping by. Happy weekend!
I taught K and elementary grades for 20 years. I remember the days you are referring to. I understand when you think nothing you say is getting through. But there are also days when the light bulbs go off and eyes shine bright. Then you realize it is worth it and you realize you are making valuable investments. Thanks for sharing.
The joys of teaching far out weigh the days that I described in my post. I have been blessed immensely in my career. Thank you for stopping by!
So thankful God looks past who I am to who I am becoming! Thank you for that reminder today! Awesome blog Mary!
Thank you for your kind words! Blessings!
I love the reminder to live in today, not to get pulled into tomorrow or regret yesterday. Right here, right now, Jesus is!
Thanks for stopping by! Miss you but hope that your travels are providing you with rest, peace and joy!
That Jeremiah verse is one of my all time favorites. I love the encouragement to remember to look behind who and what we feel like—invisible, unnecessary, unwanted, unheeded—and to look at ourselves as God sees us now and for what we are becoming. Thanks!
God’s voice has been speaking loudly to me in this last year and the reassurance that comes with His whispers has moved me forward each day. Thank you for your kind words.
Thanks for your encouraging words. I know God is using you to point others to Him.
Thanks friend! I love this writing opportunity that God has provided me with.
