Predawn stillness magnifies the silence in the air
Light remains hidden under the blanket of darkness outside
5:00 AM is like this – peaceful silence, a world waiting for the wakeup call that begins with a glimmer of sun painted across the sky
I unwrap myself from the cocoon of blankets and stretch to release the creakiness from my body and in that instant I hear a whisper that swirls around my morning grogginess and acts as my wake up call
YOU ARE BLESSED
The whisper is dismissed as my morning routine sets me in motion – a wheel turning in rhythm to the ticking clock slowly gathering momentum – the whisper is momentarily forgotten
As the predawn skies begins to filter light and turn the horizon a pale gray, I begin to brew my morning coffee. I ready my mug for the first splash of coffee goodness and fill it almost to the brim. I’m wondering how in the world I am going to have room for my cream when I see it – the whisper has become a bold statement across the rim of my mug.
Blessed Proverbs 31:28 – Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
Dear Friends,
God knows exactly what we need when we need it. On this morning, a few days after Mother’s Day, I needed to know from the inside out, that I am blessed beyond measure. That being the mom of two sons is my gift from God. That no matter how old my sons are, I still wear the title of “mom” and I am blessed. God takes routine moments and makes them anything but routine because He infuses His Spirit in the midst and reminds us who we are in His eyes. Â We are blessed because we stop and listen to God’s whispers and in turn the whispers become reality. We honor God by pausing long enough to listen and learn. I am so encouraged to know God sends reminders through coffee mugs or in ordinary moments. Pause, look and keep listening for your own “coffee mug” moments and allow the Spirit to affirm who you are through God’s eyes.
Blessings,
Mary
What reminder moments have interrupted your ordinary routines recently?
I am still counting to remind myself that I am truly blessed. Linking up this year with Ann Voskamp’s 2014 Joy Dare. Find the link up at A Holy Experience. Counting blessings daily will bless you immeasurably! JoyDare #408 and still counting…
60 more blessings have been counted and my gratitude has increased because I have allowed joy to enter. Here are a few of the highlights from the last few weeks.
- celebrating 93 years of my dad’s life
- joy of counting down the remaining school days
- blessing of 88 years with my mom
- family that lifts you up and loves you when you are hurting
- 3rd graders who share love and comfort by bringing you their prized possessions from home

I loved this. I felt so blessed just reading it! So encouraging hearing what God is saying to others. Dropping by from whimsical wednesday. x
Thanks, Jenny! Blessed you stopped by! God is a God of reminders and He is going to sneak in where we are each day – in the ordinary routines! Happy weekend!
Oh Mary … 5 am normally would sound so incredibly early. But this morning I awoke at 3:50 am and couldn’t for the life of me settle back to sleep. Within an hour I was up, puttering around. My day had begun and I could savor that pre-dawn beauty that our Creator had strewn across the sky.
It’s so good to meet you this week, to connect. Because any friend of Beth’s is surely a friend of mine!
;-}
Warmest blessings …
Thanks, Linda! I am looking forward to getting to know you better and feel like Beth is a great connection that we both share. Pre-dawn is certainly a time of stillness that is a gift if you are awake enough to enjoy it!!! Have a great weekend!
Hello Mary — I am so glad I have finally found your blog! And I love this line today: That no matter how old my sons are, I still wear the title of “mom” and I am blessed. God takes routine moments and makes them anything but routine because He infuses His Spirit in the midst and reminds us who we are in His eyes. We are blessed because we stop and listen to God’s whispers and in turn the whispers become reality.
And when we keep our eyes and hearts open we see Him everywhere all becomes gift!
Looking forward to reading more of your posts…Blessings!
Thanks, Sheila! I love this community that continues to grow as we make connections through wonderful people like Beth. Love your sweet encouragement!
It is easy to forget about the blessings when going through the ordinary days of life. visiting you from make a difference Mondays..
Glad you stopped by! I love how God reminds us through the everyday routines of life that He is always present in our lives. Have a great weekend!
So grateful for those momentary “intrusions” in our everyday lives that can remind us just how much we are loved and how much He delights in blessing us. Thank you for sharing your heart with us, Mary!
Love the lessons that God teaches me in those random moments when I am least expecting it! Blessed by your sweet encouragement.
This is the kind of contemplative living that was much of the theme of the conference I went to at Peter and Geri Scazzero’s church, Mary. I’ll be sharing more from their rich treasure-trove of skills and practices that deepen spiritual and relational connections. But your words were so beautiful and remind me of the many times God has done that very thing for me too. I think He probably does it more than we realize because we get so busy and miss the blessings He’s sprinkled in our path. We have to really be still and look around for Him and them. Love ya, sister! I can’t wait to meet you in person some day as well! 🙂
Welcome back! So wonderful to see your beautiful face over at my place. I’ve missed you! I would love to hear more about your conference and can’t wait to read about it at your place. Thank you for your encouragement – you are such a blessing to me! Love you right back!
Beautiful writing and a beautiful perspective. May you continue to sense God’s goodness on you this week. Blessings.
Your words are such a sweet sound for my soul! Thank you for encouraging me!
So agree – there is such blessing and joy that comes in counting gifts. Visiting today from the MADM link up. Have a lovely week!

Blessed you stopped by! Hope your week provides many opportunities to count and enjoy all God has in store for you.
Those still moments are so splendid. Coffee can communicate all kinds of delicious truths, from fellowship with loved ones to the reminder that God is sovereign and we are blessed! 🙂
Amen! So true and everything becomes clearer for me over coffee! God works mightily in the ordinary moments of our lives. Thank you for stopping by!
“Pause, look and keep listening for your own “coffee mug” moments and allow the Spirit to affirm who you are through God’s eyes.” Love this, Mary! Thanks for sharing this lovely encouragement. Glad I stopped over from Ann’s.
Blessed you stopped by, Julie! Glad you were encouraged and glad we are counting blessings together with Ann!
