GO…
An uneven path stretches out before you.
Keeping your footing is challenging.
Each step requires a cautious placement of your feet, one in front of the other.
Your body quivers from the tension of the quick drops and sudden climbs.
Your muscles are on fire and you breathe rapidly as you seek solid ground.
You reach deep within for the strength to go forward.
You find you cannot easily maneuver this path alone.
This journey is your life and the path narrows and widens, becomes level or uneven as you face the difficult, unknown or unseen that lies before you. This path is not meant to be traveled alone. This path is one that is best traveled with an expert guide. Your success will come when you let another lead and you follow.
God is the ultimate guide for our lives. He calls us as He did His disciples years ago to follow Him. He is the way, the truth and the life. He knows our hearts and has planned our lives. He will lead us safely through the obstacles. We should just pause, grab hold and never let go of the Ultimate Guide. There is no darkness when you are surrounded by His light.
[Tweet “Our path becomes clear when we follow God with trust and faith.”]
May we all be like Ruth who knew without a doubt that following was the answer.
But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Ruth 1:16 NLT
Let God become your guide today and follow with a trust and faith that has no doubts.
STOP
Blessings,
Your 5 Minute write are so deep and full of wisdom. Loved this Mary!
Thank you sweet friend! I honestly wasn’t going to write this week for FMF but God had other plans. Hope your week is blessed! Much love!
Nice! Your post made me feel like I was being led on a steady climb with the Ultimate Guide!
Thank you and I am glad that the words led you on your own journey. Have a blessed week!
Beautiful new site, Mary! And I love how you described the path narrowing and getting wider based on where we are at in our journey. That is a great way to imagine it. And Ruth is a great example of being a follower. Thank you for sharing!
Blessings,
Carrie
So glad you stopped by. Thank you for your encouragement. Ruth is a beautiful example of following in complete trust and faith. I pray that our journeys always are focused on the path that Jesus has laid out for us. May your week be filled with God moments that lead you forward closer to Him. Blessings!
Hi Mary! Okay, I give!! This is the THIRD post I’ve read today on trust. Yikes!
It is an amazing thing to read about all our Scripture forefathers and mothers who just dug in, got started and walked with the Lord. They might not have had any idea where they were going, but they kept going. They knew God would cover them, protect them, lead them. I want to be like that!
I think it’s time for me to dump my doubts and throw everything in with the Lord. Thank you for being His message for me today.
Blessings on your weekend 🙂

I want to be like that too, especially like Ruth. She is my Bible superhero. The unknown was not scary for her but one that she knew she would experience because she chose to follow God with everything. Let’s walk arm in arm and throw in our doubts together as we go all in for God. Love having you here friend! Happy weekend!
There is no darkness when we are surrounded by His light. May we remember that every day…and may you hold onto that truth as life takes a change for you. Much love!!!
Yes and amen! God never leads us astray and choosing to follow is the best choice every time even when the path is challenging. Hoping you find rest and renewal this weekend friend! I know you have been on a roller coaster as I have recently. Much love!
Hi Mary—I’m always amazed at what this five minute Friday produces! I have not tried it yet but I love reading the posts. May we continue to follow–the Ultimate Guide! Blessings…
Thank you! I hope you try it and join us someday soon. We have a Twitter party every Thursday evening starting at about 8:30 pm EST. We use the hashtag #fmfparty. Come check it out! I love having you here and pray we all continue to follow God-our Ultimate Guide! Happy weekend!
Beautiful thoughts. Thankful to know that He is always there with me as I walk this path. God bless you in retirement.
I am also thankful that God is before me, behind me and every other place in between. I am blessed by the new possibilities in my life but stepping out requires faith and I can only gain that strength from God. Hope to see you in June!
Amen, friend. Let’s keep on climbing together. The Vista will be glorious and well worth the trek it took to get us there.
Weekend joys and hugs!
Yes to climbing but a bigger yes to climbing together! I cannot wait to see the glorious view that will be waiting. Praying your weekend is restful as well as filled with time in God’s presence. Love you!
Just so much Amen, sweet friend!
Thank you sweet friend and sorry I missed the #fmfparty fun. Too much to do to finish up the school year. Praying that your new venture is going well and I will continue to pray for your home church. Happy weekend!
Mary, I love that verse from Ruth; one of my faves!! I love your imagery of God as the ultimate guide. So so true! Reminds me of hiking in the Rocky Mts. You get lost. You end up where you shouldn’t…especially when you don’t have the proper guide!
That verse is one of my faves too. Such a beautiful reminder of following with all we have to give. I have never hiked in the Rockies but I can imagine what could happen when you do not know your way. I am always so glad when I see you here. Have a wonderful weekend!
“This path is not meant to be traveled alone. This path is one that is best traveled with an expert guide.”
Your words make me think of the song: “Never once did we ever walk alone. Never once did You leave us on our own…” I don’t know what I’d do without Jesus guiding me. I screw up enough as it is WITH Him in my life!
You always make me smile and I fully get the screwing up part. It seems to happen way too often. Thank goodness for a big and forgiving God who every time we mess up says “you are enough as you are. Follow me”. Hope your weekend provides you with renewal and restoration.
I’ve missed you, Mary! So glad to read your post through tonight’s linkup. You’re so right: the path becomes clearer as we continue to walk in trust. Sometimes hindsight is 20/20, and often I’m glad that I didn’t know everything ahead of time, because I probably would have chickened out! LOL So grateful for a merciful God who leads us by the hand to still waters.
Thank you sweet friend! I have missed being a part of FMF. Trying to wrap up my chapter of teaching and life is a roller coaster but in 13 more teaching days it will be all over! 🙁 Thank you for being here and reminding me that God is the leader who loves to pull us along when we need it or walk by our side as our support. Hope you are doing well and hope to be around FMF a lot in the near future.
Can I just say Amen? I love knowing I am being led by the Lord and that my soul-hand is firmly held in His! Hallelujah!!
I love the image of your soul-hand clasped tightly to God’s. Beautiful! Let us praise God together that He chooses each of us and all we need do is follow Him. Blessings for a beautiful weekend.
