And so – we write for five minutes, our words tumbling out – no editing, no polishing – just flat out on a one word prompt! We gather all our beautiful thoughts here in our Five Minute Friday community and then love on each other as only we can do! Click here to learn all about it.
Home is where the Five Minute Friday community gathers so please join us at Kate Motaung’s for our Friday fun!
WHEN
GO…
Life comes fast,
Our days blur like the landscape rushing past the windows of a speeding car,
The minutes tick off so quickly we can barely mark their passing,
And then…
God sends His spirit just when we need Him!
In one sweet breath of life-giving air, we are filled with renewal and restoration to ease our weary souls when life is consuming and full of craziness.
[Tweet “Step into the rhythm of life measured by breathing in God and breathing out His praise!”]
Life takes on a steady rhythm of breathing in and breathing out because God slowed down the frantic and replaced it with His stillness. We pause to remember that living overwhelmed is living underwhelmed and we know that we crave a fullness that only comes when God is given the space to enter our unsteadiness and fill us with His peace. We feel the blessing of love that surpasses all of the fast-paced living and know we are exactly where we need to be. We empty out the the frenzy and let the whispers of God’s strength take over our days. We rejoice when God comes and allows a slowing down that is His treasured gift just for us. We step into the rhythm of a life measured by breathing in God and breathing out His praise.
When God comes… we are blessed, revived, refreshed and renewed! Our gift is one day, one minute, one tick led by His Hand and His rhythm.
STOP
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
Amen for His daily blessings and gift of renewal!
Mary
Hi Mary! I do think that God comes just when we need him! And he comes when I am quiet enough to hear him too. Both good ‘whens’!
Your image is such a great illustration of your point of business too. I’m sure that God himself wants to pull the brake for us, but he’ll never do that. How patient he is to wait for when I will 🙂
Hope you had a wonderful weekend,
Ceil
I do love that God patiently waits for us to realize that He is near and craves spending time with us. We need to stop our craziness to let Him in and slow down to listen to all He wishes to whisper to us. God is a God of whens and we need to be listening and open to catching them all.
So good to have you here today. My weekend was wonderful and extended because of snow! Hope you are well!
Love this post and your graphic!! Thanks for the reminder that God always comes just when I need Him.
Amen! God is our “when” even when we do not know what time it is! Blessings for a warm and peace-filled week!
Darling, no editing or polishing needed when you write like this—from the heart. 🙂
Blessed by these words! Thank you for affirming God speaking through me!
This is really beautiful, Mary. I’m going to “tweet” it later. (when people are awake on your side of the world. If I do it now, no one sees it!) I read that passage in Isaiah just yesterday, so this is a great follow-up encouragement. I’ve always been amazed at how just a few minutes of stillness with God can change the landscape of my mind totally.
Thank you for your sweet encouragement and for the tweet shout out. I am always blessed when you come and hang out here. Praise God that He provides His word to center, calm and lead us through our days.
Amazing how God can pour such wisdom into a heart in five minutes…great read.
Blessed by your sweet words. There is something about a 5 minute write that stirs my heart and gets God speaking loudly. Hope your week is blessed.
“living overwhelmed is living underwhelmed”
This spoke to me, Mary. It is so true. I need to make space for God to come and bring peace.

Praying with you that we are able to make room for God in our everyday so that when we are overwhelmed we feel God’s peace enter into the space we provided. Weekend Blessings to you! Thank you for stopping by!
And this, my friend … glorious – ‘God slowed down the frantic and replaced it with His stillness.’
My prayer for me. For you. For us all.
Be still my soul …
Amen! I am hearing more and more that a slow down is needed in my life. I am exploring this thought for Lent. Blessed that God’s slowing down brings in people who understand how important that can be for all of us. Happy Sabbath!
Beautiful words Mary! God can do so much in my heart in a moment of stillness.
Yes He can! God’s strength lies in our willingness to receive and fill with His word and truths. Praying blessings over you and your family today!
Thank you, sweet friend, for this beautiful reminder to slow down and let his beauty and stillness infuse us with hope and peace.
Friday blessings, friend! May God’s sweet stillness infuse our souls this weekend and allow us to restore our physical selves for the upcoming week. Happy weekend!
Beautiful sentiments. Yes indeed it’s time to pause and consider all that God has given to us.
