It’s Five Minute Friday and I am joining Lisa-Jo Baker and other FMF girls to write flat out for five minutes. No editing, no polishing, and then linking up together. I am loving this challenge! I hope you enjoy it too! Can I just say that 5 minutes flies by!!! Here goes!
MESS
GO…
Frothy films of dust cover my favorite end table in the living room
Teetering towers of books outline the floor in my bedroom
Ungraded papers, lesson plans, markers, pens, and pencils hold down the yellow linen tablecloth gracing my dining room table
Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, writing ideas and daily routines of life cloud my mind on any given day
All could constitute a mess or a work in progress – our perspective versus God’s perspective makes the difference
God takes each piece of my mess daily and meets me exactly where I am – even when my mantra from August to June is “see you in June” because teachers are known to not be so present for their families during these months.
Even then, God says “I got you covered” as daily challenges or bigger messes are continually covered in God’s grace. God knows every bit of who I am and still extends His mercy and allows me to start fresh each day.
God’s grace transforms our messiness into beauty, our weakness into strength and our focus shifts as we stop mid-sentence and remember!
God’s truths become our embrace and our messiness is no longer ours to handle by ourselves.
For God said to us…
STOP

We write for five minutes flat. All on the same prompt that I post here starting at 10pm EST on Thursday night and all through Friday. And we connect on Twitter with the hashtag #FMFParty (It stands for Five Minute Friday Party).
No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation.
Unscripted. Unedited. Real.
It started because I’d been thinking about writing and how often our perfectionism gets in the way of our words. And I figured, why not take 5 minutes and see what comes out: not a perfect post, not a profound post, just five minutes of focused writing.
So now on Fridays a group of people who love to throw caution to the wind and just write without worrying if it’s just right gather to share what five minutes buys them. Just five minutes.
Your words. This shared feast.

Amen that our Heavenly Father is so willing to meet us right in the middle of our messes time after time. Love you, friend!
Stopping by from The Weekend Brew. Thank goodness His grace is sufficient for us!
Thanks for stopping by my little part of the world. Hope to see you again! Mary
Hi Passagethroughgrace,
You’re a teacher? 🙂 Neat. What ages or subjects?
I am thankful that God weaves all of our messes, distractions, and experiences into beauty.
Re your comment on my post “What an Investigative Detective Would Tell You,” …oh, Passagethroughgrace, I agree. How neat that he is someone who wants to reveal himself to us, too.
Have a great weekend,
Jennifer Dougan

Oh that clouded cluttered place called My Thoughts! So thankful that He holds me together and extends His grace so generously. So thankful for the peace that He pours in whenever I just STOP thinking – and ask Him for it. Good stuff Mary. Keep writing & sharing. VH
