The early morning quiet greets me most mornings at 5:00 AM. The darkness is still an inky black and the only light comes from the bedside lamp I turn on to start my day. There is a complete hush of quiet broken only by the throwing back of the comforter and my footsteps padding into the other room. All of these pieces work together to create my favorite time of the day. A time to renew, restore, read and center.
You see – I have a date! This one is so important to me that my day is not complete until I have had my daily date with God. I have tried to get by without my early morning quiet time, without my devotions, without the Word, but each time my day has resulted in imbalance, lack of focus and at times has been a train wreck. God has been asking me on this date for years and within the last five years, I finally said “yes”. God will never give up in relentlessly pursuing us into a deeper relationship with Him and even through my stubbornness, ability to over schedule my day without Him and my lack of understanding of the importance of centering on Him each day, God never gave up.

I am blessed to be hosting The Weekend Brew this weekend. Come join me here to read the rest of my story and to be blessed by a beautiful community of encouragers.
Hi Mary! I love your time with God. I know he is so happy that you are making the effort to meet him before you start your day. Just one step towards him is rewarded by his leaping and bounding toward you like a stag! I know that you are blessed.
I am trying to be more intentional about my prayer these days. You have filled me with encouragement to continue. God bless!

There is something about centering myself for the day that helps me throughout the rest of the day. The morning quiet seems to provide the stillness and one on one time that I need to listen and hear God. I will pray that we all can become more intentional in our time with God. Blessed that you stopped by. Hugs!
Mary, this is such an important part of the day. It seems when we distance God, He distances from us as well. On the other hand, He is there holding our hand every step of the way when we stay close which is such a blessing!
I love that God holds our hand because I certainly need it a lot. I pray you are able to have a quiet time each day too. Blessed that you stopped by! Hugs friend!
He really is our stronghold. His word guides us and gives us balance. I’ll be lost without Him honestly. I don’t know if I’ll ever survive.
I would be lost without Jesus too! He is my strength, my truth, and my everything. Blessings!
