Fall is becoming a distant memory. The chill in the air reminds me to search for my gloves, scarf, and earmuffs. The leaves hang on in places, but barrenness stretches across the landscape. A silent chant begins to crescendo each morning as I reluctantly crawl out of the warmth of my blankets.
Prepare Ye the Way! Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord!
Holiday madness is in full swing but I find myself pushing back against the tide of busyness. I begin the chant again.
Prepare Ye the Way! Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord!
I press pause on my to-do list and pull out my Bible. As I turn to the Gospels searching for the familiar words, I sit down ready to read and exhale the stress I’ve been holding inside.
[Tweet “God held my dreams in His hands and set them free as I prayed for His will to be done.”]
My life the last few years looked like a season of transitions. The time crept slowly until I began to allow myself to dream in earnest. I prayed and dreamt some more. God showed me glimpses of what my future looked like. I prayed again, but this time for patience in the waiting. Piece by piece the dream became my reality.
My journey through the transitions led me to God and He graciously taught me these lessons. Follow me to God-Sized Dreams to find out what they are…
Blessings,
Waiting for transitions can be really difficult. I love that you’ve learned to wait for God’s dreams for you!
You might think I have a lot of patience and in some situations I do. I was very patient as a teacher. Now I want results faster, but God still has the best plan even if it doesn’t match my timeline. Thank you for being here!
Transitions! That’s exactly the word to describe my situation. After homeschooling my kids for over 20 years, they are just about all grown. (2 more years and the last of 4 will graduate). My oldest daughter just got married and my oldest son moved away to go to college. I’m so glad to read this blog from someone on the other side! Thanks for the encouragement!
I love being on the other side almost all of the time. 😉 The lessons that God continues to teach me throughout this new season are amazing. I pray you find God in all of the endings of what have you have done for so many years. Then open your heart to dreaming because he has so much more for you.
Thank you, Mary, for this insight. I was especially moved by what you said of those verses in Luke – “The foreshadowing proclaimed in them fill me with hope and a new understanding of how perfectly God fits the pieces of our history and future together.” Something I truly need to remember. Thanksgiving blessings and hugs to you!
You’re welcome, Trudy! I am amazed over and over at what God has to teach me in His Word. John the Baptist prepared the way for our Savior. God does the same for us as we move through the different seasons of our life. May we allow our history and future to join in God’s loving embrace. Thank you for being here. Love you!
Such a grace gift to see your name popping up in my inbox this morning reminding me that you are sharing truth over at God Sized Dreams.
Blessings to you, today, Mary as you minister to your readers!
Thank you, Michele! I love the God-Sized Dreamers community and that you are part of that with me. Blessings on your Thanksgiving.
