I turned off the highway lost in my thoughts about Bible study that evening. As I continued on, I left the comfort of a well-lit four lane road to a two lane road. Darkness emerged and surrounded me. I glanced in my rear view mirror to catch any headlights following me and instead saw a gift from God. The words “you’re my favorite” seemed to echo in the car.
I could not get enough of the moving snapshot. Hope glimmered in the darkness. I drove a little faster desiring to reach my destination sooner. All the while “you’re my favorite” filled the dark corners of the car.
Looking back one last time, I pulled into the church parking lot and jumped out of my car with my phone in hand. I centered the view in my camera and snapped. A smile turned the corners of my lips into a lopsided grin. All was well!
I forget too often that God is always on my side. He is my Shepherd and will not rest until I am cared for again and again. God shows me how He delights in me and cherishes everything about me. He whispers in my darkest moments as well as those of tremendous joy and says, “you’re my favorite”.
[Tweet “God whispers “you’re my favorite” as a sign of His deep love. Are you listening?”]
We work hard and lose the truth of who we are in the process, but God sends us snapshots in our rear view mirrors that tell us differently. Outside sources convince us that “favorites” are reserved for ice cream, puppies and movies. God takes the time to show us we are beautiful in the unexpected whispers of His truth. Just as Winnie the Pooh likes nothing more than to spend the day with us, it is God’s greatest desire too.
Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So today is my new favorite day. Winnie the Pooh
Stand encouraged that God loves and cherishes you, craves spending time with you and rejoices in you. But when your days hit below the belt and knock you down from weariness or frustration, remember God’s got you. So…
If you are feeling less than today, God reminds you:
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs. Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
When you feel overwhelmed and soul weary, He says:
God, my shepherd!
I don’t need a thing.
You have bedded me down in lush meadows,
you find me quiet pools to drink from.
True to your word,
you let me catch my breath
and send me in the right direction. Psalm 23:1-3 MSG
If you crave belonging and forget who you are, God tells you:
But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
Today I pray you know you are dearly loved, known intimately by God and you are a delight.
Love you all,
Thank you so much, Mary, for sharing these awesome blessings of love from God. Tears pool in my eyes as I reread it. I too seldom remember I also am God’s favorite. The verses you share are so hope-filled. So is Pooh’s quote. 🙂 Have a blessed week! Hugs!
I hope your tears were happy tears. God delights in us and I crave being reminded over and over. You too, I imagine! God loves you dearly Trudy and the blessing of your friendship is one that I thank God for often.
Thank you, Mary. Yes, they were happy tears. 🙂 I, too, crave the reminder often, and I am grateful to be reminded again today with your post. I thank God for your friendship, too!
Hi Mary! Love the new design of your blog!
Your post today reminds me of a tee shirt I saw that says “Jesus loves you…but I’m his favorite!”
We are all his favorites, and it’s hard to understand that in human terms, but it sure is true. He is there for us always, our best friend, our source of wisdom.
Your bible study sounds like a powerful source of love for you through Jesus. How blessed you are to be a part of that.
Hope you’re having a great weekend,
Ceil
Thank you Ceil! It was so much fun getting the blog ready and then sharing it with all of my wonderful friends. Isn’t it so reassuring to know we are God’s favorite? On those days when I am not feeling it, I will go back and remember these words.
Thank you for affirming my walk with Jesus. The Bible study is part of it, for sure, but trying to intentionally seek Him each day is a bigger part. Hope you’re having a great weekend too.
These special little treats and surprises from the Lord in the simplest of ways – a sunset, a puppy kiss, a beautiful snowfall, in so many ways the Lord blesses us in amazing ways, we are so blessed in His care! May the presence of the Lord be rich in your life today 🙂
I love how God shows up each day and I challenge myself to find those special moments. It can take the hardest day and run it around. I pray that you find God everywhere this coming week. May He speak to you in ways you can only imagine!
This resonates, Mary! I just posted a simple message on IG about the enemy’s lies and the truth about who we are in Christ. Such a good message confirmed here today. I sense us kneeling before His throne together. Thank you, friend!
When I first saw your comment come through I thought I had a new visitor to the blog. YOU have too many different names friend. I saw your post on IG about the enemy’s lies and I love that we are connected in kneeling before God in speaking His truth. You are a treasure!
Oops, auto fill strikes again 🙂
Thank you for bringing the gentle wisdom of Pooh into this heartwarming and reassuring reflection on the love of God.
Your new “look” here is fantastic, and I’m also happy to find that your voice and message remain the same.
Pooh just says it best sometimes. Thank you for your sweet words about the new look. I also appreciate you recognizing that new space does not mean a change in who I am. God has this desire for me to be authentic and vulnerable in my words. I pray that I keep seeking after Him in this journey.
That Winnie the Pooh is pretty smart! You my friend are loved too!
The wisdom of Winnie the Pooh sometimes is just what we need. YOU are loved sweet Tara and you are God’s favorite!
I love this Mary. I had an experience this afternoon that reminded me of God’s care for me. I hope to write about it for the link up on Monday. Blessings!
I can’t wait to read your words about how God cared for you. I love when God shows up just when you need him. I love when you stop by friend!
