Every summer I look forward to the familiar that accompanies the season. I celebrate the customary sights, scents, feels and sounds that seem to show up.
- Outdoor barbecues
- 5:00 AM wake up calls from the birds outside my window
- the trickle of watermelon juice down my chin
- brilliant sunrises and sunsets
- skies so blue you can get lost in them
- warmth of the sunshine kissing your skin with heat and color
- a slow down of time
- the length of days that extend longer, until Fall calls them back home
Just like the familiar summertime rituals, we find God’s promises to be true and constant. We count on summer to deliver the many things listed above and more. We anticipate each season to boldly bring these expected delights to fill our senses. We count on the promises of the season to return each year.
God’s promises are found in His word and throughout scripture we are provided with story after story of promises being fulfilled. God spoke through the prophets, Jesus and His disciples of the many promises that He has for us. This gracious gift is ours to have everyday. God’s promises are true and constant as we read in 2 Samuel.
“God’s way is perfect.
All the Lord’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. 2 Samuel 22:31 NLT
Just knowing that God has prepared our lives for us and fills it with the hope of His goodness, should be enough for us, but we move through a life of difficult challenges…

I missed the Weekend Brew due to a Saturday beach trip, but I’ll follow you there. (Watermelon’s dripping down my chin now. 🙂 For real.)
Well thanks for stopping by, watermelon juice and all! Love that you were enjoying summer! BTW-I am going to Allume this year. I hope you go and I get to meet you!
Trusting Him, moment-by-moment, season-by-season. He’s all we can ever rely upon. BTW, really loved the photo!
Joanne-I love seeing you here! You always leave such sweet encouragement. The picture is from a favorite garden where I walk. Have a blessed week!
Such an encouraging post, Mary! My son and I were just talking this evening about how when doubts come we should turn to God’s word to remind us of His promises there. Your post was very timely! Thank you! Blessings to you!
I love how God’s words meet people exactly where and when they need it. Thank you for sharing that. I love how God’s timing is perfect!
Great post Mary. I forget all the different rituals of the seasons. Thanks for the reminder.
So glad you are here today! God is so good to provide us with His beauty in all the seasons but also the constancy of His promises. Have a blessed weekend!
