Many times when we think of encouragement, we think big and bold!
Big and booming…
Cheerleader exuberance…
Name in lights…
Instant happiness…
but that is not what encouragement is all about!
Subtle, unassuming, pure and authentic are the real ways to provideĀ encouragement.
Words that matter, actions that display love and simple caring, sum up how to build up and lean into relationships. These same imagesĀ describe God and His relationship with each of us. His words, the way He treasures each of us as a gift and how He craves a relationship with us are all signs of God’s encouragement.
Encouragement is the key to unlocking one precious heart to the goodness of Jesus!
God’s words when whispered into the deepest reaches of our hearts encourage us to know that He deeply loves us and is ecstatic every time we choose Him first in our lives.
In Ephesians 3:16-19, Ā Paul describes the depth of God’s love for us. It continues the length of our lives and it never runs out. These words, through Paul, inspireĀ and display beautifully that words matter especially when spoken from the heart of God.
16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lordās holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledgeāthat you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Paul continues to encourage all with his words in Romans 8:38-39. The promise made in these verses tells us that it is impossible to be separated from the love of Christ. One act – dying on the cross- clinched the unconquerable love Christ has for each of us. Soak in these words and let them fill every part of your being.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God chose us even before we were born and this relationship is Ā invaluableĀ to Him. Building into us is what God does everyday. Pausing long enough to lean in and accept this, seals the deal. One of my favorite Psalms is 139 and in it we learn how God knows every intimate detail about us. He created us by “knitting us together in our mother’s womb”. Those words slay me every time and encourage me to pursue Jesus with everything I’ve got. Simple words and gentle nudging is how God works to remind us we are loved so big and so deep.
God doesn’t need to follow the motto “Go big or go home”!Ā He sent His son Jesus to secure life, love and an enduring relationship with Him and in our “yes” we will have eternal life.
Let’s follow God’s lead and extend authentic encouragement to others and in turn share the goodness of Jesus.
