When the perfect {you fill in the blank} is just out of reach, what will you bring the King?
9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11
The three wise men brought their version of perfect gifts for the newborn king-Jesus. The NIV Application Study Bible explains that the act of bringing gifts to the baby Jesus was the “essence of true worship”. Worship is honoring Christ for who He is and in doing this you want to bring the best you have with you. Your most valuable gift is the one that truly honors Jesus and it is in the giving that you engage in true worship.
