Some weeks are just like this, I remind myself. Life weighs you down and you are weary from the toil that it takes on your heart, mind and body. You question the enormity of the burden that carves away at your exterior and wounds your heart. Exhaustion settles into your very core and you struggle to put one foot in front of the other. You crave relief from the stress of your job, from your daily routines and from everything else that is placing demands on you. It’s in this moment that you look for God and you reach somewhere deep in your soul for the reminders of all His promises.
When your heart is burdened and the weight of life becomes unbearable, God promises to walk with you and carry you.
I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you. Isaiah 46:4
When your steps take you in circles and the journey is uncertain, God says “let me lead you”.
When loneliness shrouds you in darkness and threatens to take your breath away, God promises to light your way and remain by your side.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
When love seems elusive and emptiness fills your soul, God lovingly says “accept my gift of grace”.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  2 Corinthians 12:9
When joy is stolen by deep sadness, God says, “I will always delight in you”.
For the Lord your God is living among you.
    He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
When you feel like you are going to succumb to the exhaustion of maintaining daily life, God says “I will give you rest”.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28Â
I have learned that some weeks are just like this! Our hearts are heavy and full of life’s burdens but God promises to walk through the struggles with us and His Promises are always true and good. Rest in God’s grace today and let His endless love wrap around you as you sink into the hug of His promises!
Blessings!
Mary

I have a crazy few weeks coming up, so when I saw the subject of this post in the writer’s group, I thought I better read it. It is just what I needed to hear. You reminded me that God’s grace is all I need. Thanks, Mary
Blessed that you stopped by Janet! Praying that God provides you all you need especially during your crazy weeks!
I am so thankful that He does not leave us during those times. Thanks for sharing!
Amen! God’s reminders through His words, whispers or others’ wisdom is what keeps me moving forward.
Hi Mary,
Thanks for introducing yourself over at my blog…Great selection of verses…This from Zeph. 3:17 jumped out at me today: “With his love, he will calm all your fears.” Thank you 🙂
Dolly-so thankful you stopped by today! I enjoyed stopping by your place too. Zephaniah is not typically referenced – it was like finding a treasure!
Oh it is like you wrote this post for me! Thank you so much for the welcome, much-needed reminders! xo ~Sybil
Thank you for stopping by! God’s reminders are always the best reminders!
A fine piece to read today. Placing God’s Truth alongside the various burdens we carry at times really has blessed me this afternoon. I am so grateful that I came by for I needed to be reminded of a number of things about our God. I meandered through your site and found the post about your Dad, his grace, and the gifts he gives you. My Mama would have been 100 this week, but she is in heaven as of a little over a year ago. I miss her so, but she still leaves tidbits of knowledge around for me to find and remember. I am so glad I had her near for so many years. Be blessed.
Caring through Christ, ~ linda
Glad you came on by and love that you stayed for a bit and looked around. Love that you had your momma for so long. My mom passed away this past January and missing her occurs 24/7 but the lessons and love I have from both my parents is so precious. Blessings!
Thanks for the reminder that He is with me. Sometimes life is so exhausting! I feel so tired in my core but He is with me there too!
Oh, Karen I understand that exhausted to the core feeling. Hopefully retirement is treating you well and rest is part of your daily routine. Love you, girl!
Perfect words for this very exhausted gal this evening. Facing a full weekend and full week ahead with commitments and must-do’s. Just feeling a little overwhelmed lately and a bit depleted this evening, and I read your blog and had to smile. Matthew 11:28 is so what I need to remember right now. He is my rest and my refreshing. My burden lifter. Thanks for the good words this evening. Love you friend.
What a blessing that we have a weekend break to receive some rest and a change in our routines! Love that you stopped by-you blessed me! Love you!
